How to wear perfume so it actually lasts
An eau de parfum is made to last, but your skin, where you spray and a few small habits decide whether it fades by lunch or carries you into the evening.
Spray pulse points, from a short distance
Hold the bottle a hand's width from your skin and spray the inside of the wrists, the sides of the neck and behind the ears. These spots are warm, and warmth helps a fragrance open up and project through the day.
Moisturised skin holds scent longer
Fragrance fades fastest on dry skin. Apply an unscented moisturiser first, ideally straight after a shower, then spray.
Two to four sprays is plenty
- Start with two sprays, and add more only if you cannot smell it after twenty minutes
- Do not rub your wrists together - it crushes the top notes
- A light mist over clothing adds staying power, but test an inconspicuous spot first, as some fragrances can mark delicate fabric
Keep a tester for top-ups
Our 5ml testers fit in a pocket, so a midday refresh is one spray away.
Rule of thumb: you should notice it when you move, not every time you breathe.
